The significance of raising godly children cannot be overstated. Psalm 127:3 reminds us that Children are a heritage from the Lord. It is our divine duty to guide our children on the path of righteousness, equipping them with values and morals that reflect the image of God. Training our children to walk in God’s statutes helps them to thrive in a secular world, fosters moral integrity, and enables them to fulfill their God-given destinies.
1. LEAD BY EXAMPLE: (Proverbs 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:1)
Leading a life that exemplifies Christ’s teachings sets the foundation for our children to imitate. It is from us they learn how to interact, communicate, and behave towards God and others. If they see us exemplifying love, faith, integrity, they will naturally incorporate those virtues into their lives.
2. TEACH GOD’S WORD: (Deuteronomy 6:6-7; Ephesians 6:4)
God’s word should be central to raising godly children. Our task is to instill His precepts in their hearts and minds, preparing them to confront the world with the strength of their faith. Discuss scriptures with them, teach them to pray and to observe Christian disciplines.
3. PROVIDE GODLY COUNSEL: (Proverbs 22:6; James 1:5)
One of our main responsibilities is guiding our children. Through God’s wisdom, provide godly counsel so that they know what is pleasing to the Lord and what is not. Encourage them to discern and act accordingly to biblical principles.
4. PRACTICE DISCIPLINE: (Proverbs 13:24; Hebrews 12:11)
As a part of raising godly children, correction is essential. When delivered in love and in accordance with scripture, it nurtures a spirit of obedience and discipline. Discipline however does not necessarily mean flogging or raining unspeakable abuses/curses on your own offspring!
5. NURTURE A LOVING ENVIRONMENT: (1 Corinthians 16:14; Ephesians 5:2)
Children thrive in an environment where love prevails. Demonstrate God’s unconditional love, compassion, forgiveness and understanding at home, showing them how to love and respect everyone around them.

7. MODEL HUMILITY: (Micah 6:8; Philippians 2:3)
Living humbly helps our children realize that we’re all dependent on God’s grace. Encourage humility, acknowledging that all we have and all we are is because of God’s generosity.
8. FOSTER A PRAYERFUL LIFE: (Jeremiah 29:12; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

Inspire your children to serve others selflessly. Encourage them to see the world through the eyes of Jesus, emphasizing the joy and fulfillment that comes from serving others.
10. ENRICH THEM WITH BIBLICAL VALUES: (Joshua 24:15; Colossians 3:12-17)
